Los Angeles Chargers

The Chargers bled value on every deal, hence the D.

The Chargers lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. Every board in the league had Davis lower, and that gap is the story.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Henderson.

The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.5 · Pick 5 · Malik Nabers · WR · rank 4
In the 5th overall pick they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R1.25 · Pick 25 · Amarius Mims · OT · rank 20
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get an anchor for the offensive line. A real need, handled.
R3.5 · Pick 69 · Adisa Isaac · DE-EDGE · rank 69
By-the-book stuff, Adisa Isaac at the Round 3 slot squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Marist Liufau · LB · rank 90
No drama and no debate, Marist Liufau went about where he belonged in pick 88. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Tyler Davis · DT · rank 99
Tyler Davis at No. 91 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R4.5 · Pick 105 · TreVeyon Henderson · RB · rank 89
Quietly one of the better values of the day, TreVeyon Henderson at slot 105. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R4.16 · Pick 116 · Max Melton · CB · rank 114
Max Melton in the 116th pick is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R6.8 · Pick 183 · Christian Jones · OT · rank 183
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Christian Jones. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R6.23 · Pick 198 · Bryson Nesbit · TE · rank 200
They paid sticker price for Bryson Nesbit in the 198th overall pick, and that is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R7.6 · Pick 226 · Jordan Magee · LB · rank 218
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jordan Magee at the 226th pick is the proof. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
R7.22 · Pick 242 · Evan Williams · S · rank 247
A straight-up fair deal on Evan Williams at pick 242, value and slot in agreement. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
