The Cardinals spent real capital to be 63 picks early on Donovan Smith, and the board is going to hold them to it. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
On value alone, Egbuka makes the weekend a net positive. A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want.
Quarterback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 16 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Emeka Egbuka in No. 47, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Jack Nelson at Round 3, Pick 14 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Simeon Barrow Jr.. A need, and now a little less of one.
They reached into another round for Donovan Smith, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
