Somebody in the Round 6 slot was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Patriots sat still while Cooper Beebe, the No. 76 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. This is how you run a draft, and the A reflects it.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.
The A.J. Brown deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Marvin Harrison Jr. and all.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 22 they get a weapon on the perimeter, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
No edge and no loss on Tyler Guyton in slot 34; it is a wash and a sensible one. It fills a real need, too.
The board fumbled Chop Robinson all the way to the 54th overall pick, and they scooped it up. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They robbed the room for Bralen Trice here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Christian Mahogany in the 104th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Blake Corum at No. 136 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Cooper Beebe in pick 182 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The roster fit checks out.
You do not let a tight end like Austin Stogner reach the Round 7 slot and blink. They did not. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
