Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Woody Marks got past him. The Commanders do not have to explain a thing at No. 238. For now it grades a C+, with the swing picks left to settle the rest.
The Ezeiruaku reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. They will regret leaving tight end for another day if the season turns on it. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
It nets out as a middle-of-the-pack haul that neither helps nor hurts much.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 29th overall pick they get a double-digit-sack hope, a steep price for the projection. A clean fit for the roster.
Isaiah Bond at slot 61 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Hollin Pierce this early at the 79th pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Value said wait; Cobee Bryant in No. 148 says they were not listening. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They talked themselves into Jaishawn Barham at Round 6, Pick 29, and the board did not agree. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Woody Marks in pick 238 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A need, and now a little less of one.
They robbed the room for Kyle Monangai here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The roster fit checks out.
