Some picks age like wine; Rasheen Ali at slot 202 will need to, sitting 58 spots clear of his grade. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through wide receiver. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th pick they get a cornerstone up front. A real need, handled.
They paid a round early for Kris Jenkins in the 41st overall pick, more than the board wanted. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Payton Wilson at No. 58 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. A minor itch, scratched.
Dadrion Taylor-Demerson at slot 88 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Andru Phillips in pick 91 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Roger Rosengarten at Round 4, Pick 26 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 169 with a little surplus value in Jaheim Bell. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A wild overpay on Rasheen Ali in the 202nd overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A premium they did not need to pay, Tylan Grable a notch or two before his time. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Carter Bradley in the 245th pick, miles early. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They jumped the gun on Trey Taylor, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
