You build a draft on nights like this. Sheridan Jones had no business being available in Round 7, Pick 31, and the Packers did the only sane thing and turned in the card. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Brade pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 25 they get a cornerstone up front. A real need, handled.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Quinyon Mitchell in slot 48. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Somehow Ennis Rakestraw Jr. was still sitting there in the 57th overall pick, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 88, where Cooper Beebe graded well above the range. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Marist Liufau in the 91st pick. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A premium they did not need to pay, Beau Brade a notch or two before his time. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Fair-plus on Darius Robinson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Edefuan Ulofoshio is a better player than the Round 5 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Rasheen Ali at the 203rd overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Tanor Bortolini in Round 6, Pick 36 is fair value, right on his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Jordan Magee slid further than he should have, and slot 216 is lovely value for the linebacker. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Mark Perry in pick No. 243 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Sheridan Jones at pick 251 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
