The Cowboys torched the value chart for Caden Curry, taking him 40 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted.
That Cameron pick is the receipt they will wave around later. For all the activity, offensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
Good work on the whole, with offensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 12 they get a press-man option on the boundary. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
In the 20th overall pick they get the heartbeat of the defense, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Caden Curry in No. 92, miles early. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Nothing to complain about; Darrell Jackson Jr. went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Skyler Gill-Howard in the Round 5 slot is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
The board had cheaper options than Taylen Green at pick No. 177, and it noticed. It fills a real need, too.
They reached into another round for VJ Payne, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Josh Cameron at the 218th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
