The Packers clearly saw something nobody else did in Joe Milton III, taking him 116 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. A dependable weekend that grades out a B+.
Harden at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 26 they get a double-digit-sack hope, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Junior Colson in the 51st overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. A minor itch, scratched.
They did well to land Javon Bullard in No. 58, just ahead of his grade. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Dominick Puni at pick No. 84 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
By-the-book stuff, Roger Rosengarten at the Round 3 slot squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Christian Mahogany. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Joe Milton III at the 100th overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A big swing on Isaiah Davis at the 126th pick, well ahead of any board in the building. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Marist Liufau at No. 153 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
The board fumbled Luke McCaffrey all the way to pick 169, and they scooped it up. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Dominique Hampton at slot 178 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
They reached into another round for Tylan Grable, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It fills a real need, too.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Eric Watts well ahead of where he belonged. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Jordan Magee in pick No. 222 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
A slide stopped in slot 245, with Garret Greenfield worth more than the price. A need, and now a little less of one.
You do not let a cornerback like Myles Harden reach the Round 7 slot and blink. They did not. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
