Nobody else had Keaton Bills anywhere near the Round 6 slot. The Dolphins did, by 42 spots, and that gap is the whole story. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Landing Williams that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 21 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Jordan Morgan in the 55th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Layden Robinson in Round 5, Pick 22 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Drake Nugent at pick No. 184 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The roster fit checks out.
Keaton Bills at slot 198 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A need, and now a little less of one.
Evan Williams at No. 241 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
