When a board-topper like Kamren Kinchens slides to the Round 3 slot, you do not overthink it, and the Dolphins did not. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They are betting Van Pran proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
Troy Fautanu is a better player than pick 33 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They paid a round early for Sedrick Van Pran in slot 55, more than the board wanted. It fills a real need, too.
Christian Haynes at pick No. 92 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Taking Kamren Kinchens in the 95th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Good price on Christian Mahogany in the Round 4 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Tyrone Tracy Jr. in Round 5, Pick 22 lands just on the right side of the ledger. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Fabien Lovett at No. 184 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
