Atlanta Falcons

The Falcons cashed the board's mistake on Slaughter: B.

The Falcons did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Jake Slaughter fell into pick No. 108.

For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. Every board in the league had Delp lower, and that gap is the story.

Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.30 · Pick 62 · Christen Miller · DL · rank 56
A reasonable price with a little left over, Christen Miller in the 62nd overall pick. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R3.5 · Pick 69 · Zachariah Branch · WR · rank 61
Zachariah Branch slipping to Round 3, Pick 5 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R3.15 · Pick 79 · Josiah Trotter · LB · rank 57
Steal is underselling it; Josiah Trotter at pick 79 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It fills a real need, too.
R3.20 · Pick 84 · Devin Moore · CB · rank 92
They jumped the gun on Devin Moore, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R4.8 · Pick 108 · Jake Slaughter · C · rank 55
Jake Slaughter at No. 108 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R4.22 · Pick 122 · Oscar Delp · TE · rank 132
Oscar Delp in the 122nd pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R5.20 · Pick 160 · Dametrious Crownover · OT · rank 144
Dametrious Crownover at slot 160 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R5.30 · Pick 170 · Kevin Coleman Jr. · WR · rank 163
A tidy little value on Kevin Coleman Jr. in the Round 5 slot, a step better than break-even. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R6.34 · Pick 215 · Toriano Pride Jr. · CB · rank 210
Nothing to complain about; Toriano Pride Jr. went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
R7.15 · Pick 231 · Aiden Fisher · LB · rank 230
Aiden Fisher at pick 231 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
