You can draft well and still miss the point. The Dolphins did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to quarterback, which was the need that mattered most.
Every board in the league had Pearl lower, and that gap is the story. That Polk pick is the receipt they will wave around later. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
Jackson Powers-Johnson in the Round 1 slot is fair value, right on his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Kingsley Suamataia at the 55th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Ja'Lynn Polk at slot 88 is the proof. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
By-the-book stuff, Beau Brade at pick 134 squarely in line with his ranking. A minor need, but a need all the same.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Layden Robinson in No. 157, miles early. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Julian Pearl at pick No. 184 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The roster fit checks out.
