The Dolphins clearly saw something nobody else did in T'Vondre Sweat, taking him 24 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced.
Getting Jackson where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.
So much rides on T'Vondre Sweat that the real verdict is a season or two away.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 21 they get a run-stuffing presence up front, though the board says they badly overpaid. The biggest hole, addressed.
Kingsley Suamataia at the 55th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
They paid a round early for Layden Robinson in pick 158, more than the board wanted. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A reach for Delmar Glaze in the Round 6 slot; a little patience would have been rewarded. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Jha'Quan Jackson at No. 198 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
LaDarius Henderson in the 241st pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A need, and now a little less of one.
