There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Dolphins started one anyway for Layden Robinson, 45 picks ahead of schedule. The good and the questionable cancel out to a C+.
They banked enough surplus on McGlothern to cover a lot of smaller sins. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback.
The trades cost them a sliver of value they did not need to spend. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 3 of 8 of the wish list covered.
A perfectly average weekend, for better and for worse.
Pick-by-Pick
Kingsley Suamataia at the Round 2 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A straight-up fair deal on Ruke Orhorhoro at pick 62, value and slot in agreement. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Jalen McMillan slipping to Round 4, Pick 13 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They reached a country mile for Layden Robinson at slot 130, and the board is aghast. It fills a real need, too.
Steal is underselling it; Beau Brade at No. 158 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Drake Nugent in the 184th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Taking Dwight McGlothern in pick No. 198 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. A minor itch, scratched.
They went early on LaDarius Henderson in slot 241, and the value did not follow. A need, and now a little less of one.
