Somebody in the Round 3 slot was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Eagles sat still while Xavier Worthy, the No. 43 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Stogner reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.
Job largely done: cornerback settled and 8 of 9 of the wish list covered.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a bendy edge with upside. The biggest hole, addressed.
Kamari Lassiter in the 54th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Payton Wilson at pick 71 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Xavier Worthy in slot 89, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Graham Barton at No. 90 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It fills a real need, too.
They barely believed it either: Blake Corum still on the board at Round 3, Pick 34. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A safety of that caliber at pick No. 137 is the definition of value, full stop. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Somehow Cole Bishop was still sitting there in the 156th pick, and they pounced on premier safety value. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They will replay Luke McCaffrey at pick 163 for years; that is how good the value is. The roster fit checks out.
You do not let a cornerback like Cam Hart reach Round 5, Pick 36 and blink. They did not. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They robbed the room for Daijun Edwards here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Austin Stogner at the Round 6 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
The board fumbled Jase McClellan all the way to pick No. 243, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
