Nobody else had Curtis Jacobs anywhere near pick 124. The Cowboys did, by 51 spots, and that gap is the whole story. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
The wide receiver hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
Terrion Arnold in the Round 1 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A conviction pick on Payton Wilson at the 56th pick that the board grades a round light. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Marist Liufau in pick No. 87 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They reached into another round for Curtis Jacobs, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Sheridan Jones well ahead of where he belonged. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Ja'Had Carter this early at the 212th overall pick. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Dwight McGlothern at slot 245 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
