The Sam Hartman selection is the head-turner. The Chargers reached 76 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. The good and the questionable cancel out to a C+.
Landing Pearsall that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Hit on Taliese Fuaga and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 6th overall pick they get a blindside protector, though the board says they badly overpaid.
They reached into another round for Leonard Taylor III, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
By-the-book stuff, Blake Corum at pick 70 squarely in line with his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
No drama and no debate, Roman Wilson went about where he belonged in slot 106. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They liked Ben Sinnott enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 143. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Sam Hartman in Round 6, Pick 9 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Taking Ricky Pearsall in the Round 7 slot is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
