The Chargers bet big and early on Darius Robinson, 55 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right.
Moore at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 16 they get a disruptive interior force. The biggest hole, addressed.
Jordan Morgan in the 38th pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Jackson Powers-Johnson in pick 74 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A need, and now a little less of one.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on TreVeyon Henderson. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A straight-up fair deal on Roman Wilson at the 106th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Value with a capital V on Max Melton in the Round 4 slot, a genuine coup. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A big swing on Darius Robinson at pick 143, well ahead of any board in the building. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They barely believed it either: Malachi Moore still on the board at the Round 6 slot. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
By-the-book stuff, Ricky Pearsall at pick No. 194 squarely in line with his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Sam Hartman in the 227th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
