The rest of the league will want that one back. Bru McCoy tumbling to the Packers in slot 217 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.

The Benson reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. They will answer for taking safety early while edge rusher, quarterback and other spots went begging. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.19 · Pick 19 · Nate Wiggins · CB · rank 16
Good price on Nate Wiggins in the 19th pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Troy Fautanu · OT · rank 34
They did well to land Troy Fautanu in Round 2, Pick 9, just ahead of his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R2.19 · Pick 51 · Trey Benson · RB · rank 80
Trey Benson in slot 51 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R3.19 · Pick 83 · Michael Hall Jr. · DT · rank 83
Michael Hall Jr. in pick No. 83 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The roster fit checks out.
R3.29 · Pick 92 · Tykee Smith · S · rank 95
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tykee Smith. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R4.19 · Pick 119 · Tommy Eichenberg · LB · rank 109
They let Tommy Eichenberg come to them and pounced at No. 119. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R4.35 · Pick 135 · James Williams · S · rank 128
They zigged when the board said zag, taking James Williams at safety with edge rusher, quarterback and other spots open.
R6.22 · Pick 197 · Joshua Gray · OT · rank 198
They took Joshua Gray at par in the Round 6 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R6.42 · Pick 217 · Bru McCoy · WR · rank 187
Steal is underselling it; Bru McCoy at pick No. 217 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It fills a real need, too.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Dylan McMahon · C · rank 226
Dylan McMahon in the Round 6 slot is fair value, right on his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R7.20 · Pick 240 · Nathaniel Watson · LB · rank 231
A slide stopped in the 240th overall pick, with Nathaniel Watson worth more than the price. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
