Boards are made to be trusted, and the Eagles shredded theirs for Ja'Had Carter. He came off 68 spots early, and the room will hear about it. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
However the rest shakes out, Coleman at that price is a win they earned. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.
Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 22 they get a problem off the edge. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Keon Coleman in the 50th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
No edge and no loss on Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in pick No. 59; it is a wash and a sensible one. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A conviction pick on Cooper Beebe at Round 3, Pick 34 that the board grades a round light. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Value said wait; LaDarius Henderson in slot 137 says they were not listening. A need, and now a little less of one.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jaylin Simpson at the Round 5 slot is the proof. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A real head-scratcher, Ja'Had Carter in slot 172 is miles ahead of his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
T.J. Sanders at the Round 6 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A reach on Derek Wingo in pick 248; the board had better options right there. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
