You build a draft on nights like this. Garret Greenfield had no business being available in pick 255, and the Packers did the only sane thing and turned in the card. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
Every board in the league had Ford lower, and that gap is the story. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Smith pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with quarterback and interior defensive lineman still on the board.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
R1.25
· Pick 25
· Graham Barton
· OT
· rank 28
In slot 25 they get a blindside protector at fair value.
R2.18
· Pick 50
· Edgerrin Cooper
· LB
· rank 42
Edgerrin Cooper slid further than he should have, and No. 50 is lovely value for the linebacker. A minor itch, scratched.
R2.26
· Pick 58
· Kris Jenkins
· DL-EDGE
· rank 47
The board had Kris Jenkins higher than Round 2, Pick 26, and the edge rusher fell to them anyway. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R3.25
· Pick 88
· Cole Bishop
· S
· rank 110
Cole Bishop at the Round 3 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R3.28
· Pick 91
· MarShawn Lloyd
· RB
· rank 105
MarShawn Lloyd in the 91st overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R3.34
· Pick 97
· Cam Hart
· CB
· rank 94
Fair-plus on Cam Hart, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R4.25
· Pick 125
· Tykee Smith
· S
· rank 147
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went safety with Tykee Smith while clear needs at quarterback and interior defensive lineman sat open.
R5.24
· Pick 160
· Mason McCormick
· OT
· rank 159
No edge and no loss on Mason McCormick in the 160th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R5.32
· Pick 168
· Jaylan Ford
· LB
· rank 196
They talked themselves into Jaylan Ford at the Round 5 slot, and the board did not agree. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
R5.35
· Pick 171
· Luke McCaffrey
· WR
· rank 165
Luke McCaffrey at No. 171 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R6.26
· Pick 201
· Elijah Jones
· CB
· rank 193
Elijah Jones in pick No. 201 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R6.44
· Pick 219
· Erick All
· TE
· rank 210
A slide stopped in Round 6, Pick 44, with Erick All worth more than the price. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R7.25
· Pick 245
· Miyan Williams
· RB
· rank 272
A big swing on Miyan Williams at pick 245, well ahead of any board in the building. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R7.35
· Pick 255
· Garret Greenfield
· OT
· rank 220
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Garret Greenfield in slot 255, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
