The trade table was a mismatch, and the Chiefs were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They are betting Davis proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 26 they get an anchor for the offensive line. The biggest hole, addressed.
No edge and no loss on Josh Newton in Round 2, Pick 27; it is a wash and a sensible one. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Roman Wilson at the 89th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Dallin Holker. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Julian Pearl in the Round 5 slot is fair value, right on his grade. This was not a hole anyone had circled.
They took Kaden Prather at par in the 171st pick, which is nothing to complain about. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Jasheen Davis in No. 181 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A conviction pick on Isaiah Davis at pick 204 that the board grades a round light. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
