The search is over. The Commanders handed the keys to Jayden Daniels, and the whole operation now runs on his development. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
Getting Jones where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. If Wiley pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through running back.
Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 2 they get a long-term answer under center. A clean fit for the roster.
They did well to land Tyler Guyton in the 36th overall pick, just ahead of his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Javon Bullard at the 40th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A minor itch, scratched.
Bralen Trice at slot 67 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the edge rusher. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Michael Hall Jr. in No. 78 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Fair-plus on Brenden Rice, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Value said wait; Jared Wiley in pick No. 139 says they were not listening. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Jarrian Jones at the Round 5 slot is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They robbed the room for Trente Jones here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
