Green Bay Packers

Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Packers.

Nobody else had Jacob Dobbs anywhere near the 189th pick. The Packers did, by 217 spots, and that gap is the whole story. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.

They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Laumea steal is the beam this whole class leans on.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.32 · Pick 32 · Cooper DeJean · CB · rank 60
In pick 32 they get a press-man option on the boundary, a steep price for the projection. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.7 · Pick 39 · Cooper Beebe · OG · rank 55
They jumped the gun on Cooper Beebe, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R2.11 · Pick 43 · Ladd McConkey · WR · rank 66
A wild overpay on Ladd McConkey in the 43rd overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R3.11 · Pick 75 · Jack Sawyer · DE-EDGE · rank 75
They took Jack Sawyer at par in Round 3, Pick 11, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R3.18 · Pick 82 · Max Melton · CB · rank 118
Max Melton at slot 82 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R4.11 · Pick 111 · Ben Sinnott · TE · rank 160
They talked themselves into Ben Sinnott at No. 111, and the board did not agree. A need, and now a little less of one.
R4.32 · Pick 132 · Dylan Laube · RB · rank 143
A conviction pick on Dylan Laube at the 132nd overall pick that the board grades a round light. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R4.35 · Pick 135 · Cole Bishop · S · rank 154
Cole Bishop at the Round 4 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R5.15 · Pick 151 · Sataoa Laumea · OT · rank 141
Sataoa Laumea at the 151st pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R6.14 · Pick 189 · Jacob Dobbs · LB · rank 406
A big swing on Jacob Dobbs at Round 6, Pick 14, well ahead of any board in the building. A minor itch, scratched.
R6.42 · Pick 217 · Cal Haladay · LB · rank 305
They reached a country mile for Cal Haladay at pick 217, and the board is aghast. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Joshua Gray · OT · rank 238
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Joshua Gray. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R7.12 · Pick 232 · Carson Steele · RB · rank 294
A real head-scratcher, Carson Steele in slot 232 is miles ahead of his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
