The Commanders put a flag in the ground for David Walker, 111 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
Getting Lambert-Smith where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick-by-Pick
A tidy bit of business in Round 1, Pick 29, where Emeka Egbuka graded well above the range. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A wild overpay on David Walker in pick 61, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Denzel Burke in the Round 3 slot is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Hollin Pierce reach the 148th pick and blink. They did not. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
The board fumbled Cobee Bryant all the way to slot 207, and they scooped it up. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Kyle Monangai in the 238th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A need, and now a little less of one.
Circle this one: KeAndre Lambert-Smith at pick 250 is a fall that decides a draft. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
