The war room fell hard for Darius Robinson, and it showed at the 143rd pick: 55 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
However the rest shakes out, Pearsall at that price is a win they earned. The cornerback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 6th pick they get a mismatch in the passing game. A real need, handled.
Amarius Mims slid further than he should have, and the Round 2 slot is lovely value for the offensive lineman. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They paid a round early for TreVeyon Henderson in Round 3, Pick 6, more than the board wanted. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Nazir Stackhouse in pick 106. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Darius Robinson at pick No. 143 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They jumped the gun on Keith Randolph Jr., taking him earlier than his grade liked. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Steal is underselling it; Ricky Pearsall at pick 227 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
