The Dolphins spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Jordan Whittington, the No. 199 name on the board, in pick 246. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 3 of 8 of the wish list covered.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
They paid sticker price for T.J. Tampa in No. 34, and that is fine. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Mekhi Wingo. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Good price on Zak Zinter in slot 85, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
No edge and no loss on Tyler Guyton in pick 133; it is a wash and a sensible one. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They took BJ Mayes at par in Round 5, Pick 26, which is nothing to complain about. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Bru McCoy at the 203rd overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
