The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Zy Alexander, the Round 6 slot, roughly 21 picks past where he belonged. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. The cost of the Beebe reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
They went 6 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 6th overall pick they get a No. 1 receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They went early on Cooper Beebe in the 38th pick, and the value did not follow. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
No edge and no loss on Jonah Elliss in pick 47; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A premium they did not need to pay, Rod Moore a notch or two before his time. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Fair-plus on Braelon Allen, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A need, and now a little less of one.
They read the board right and Mohamed Kamara was the payoff at pick No. 143. The roster fit checks out.
Zy Alexander at slot 184 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
