The Dolphins spent real capital to be 27 picks early on Drake Nugent, and the board is going to hold them to it. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. They went 2 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 21 they get a lockdown presence outside. Need was not the driver here.
No edge and no loss on Kingsley Suamataia in the Round 2 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. It fills a real need, too.
The board had cheaper options than Layden Robinson at pick 158, and it noticed. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Drake Nugent at the 184th pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Nothing to complain about; Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They paid up for LaDarius Henderson at slot 241 when waiting would have done the job. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
