The tape said wait; the Cowboys did not. KJ Jefferson went at the Round 6 slot, a good 101 picks before the board was ready. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D+.
On value alone, Stutsman makes the weekend a net positive. The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. Shedeur Sanders is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off.
The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.
Pick-by-Pick
A market-rate quarterback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Shedeur Sanders. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Mason Graham at No. 12 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Luther Burden III at the Round 2 slot is the proof. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They barely believed it either: Nick Emmanwori still on the board at slot 44. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They liked Donovan Jackson enough to skip the value, taking him in the 67th pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.

Tory Horton slipping to slot 112 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Demetrius Knight Jr. in the 125th overall pick, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Danny Stutsman at the Round 5 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
The board fumbled Cam Skattebo all the way to the 170th pick, and they scooped it up. A need, and now a little less of one.
They took Antwane Wells Jr. at par in pick No. 173, which is nothing to complain about. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for KJ Jefferson. The roster fit checks out.
A big swing on Jamaree Caldwell at slot 209, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Reuben Fatheree II at No. 248 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
