This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Jaylin Noel, the No. 213 name on the board, stolen at slot 249. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B+.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
Tyler Nubin in pick No. 29 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It fills a real need, too.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jeremiah Trotter Jr.. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They paid sticker price for Caelen Carson in No. 71, and that is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They let McKinnley Jackson come to them and pounced at pick 97. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Tory Horton at the 107th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Mohamed Kamara in the Round 5 slot. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Beaux Limmer at Round 5, Pick 2 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Fair-plus on Mike Sainristil, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They liked Theo Johnson enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 172. A need, and now a little less of one.
They took Ajani Cornelius at par in the Round 6 slot, which is nothing to complain about. The roster fit checks out.
Jaylin Noel at Round 7, Pick 29 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
