Whoever sat across the table from the Cowboys should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend.
The Brooks pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. The Logue reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a plug-and-play piece up front, reach and all. The biggest hole, addressed.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Edgerrin Cooper. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Circle this one: Jonathon Brooks at No. 87 is a fall that decides a draft. It fills a real need, too.
No drama and no debate, Jarrian Jones went about where he belonged in Round 4, Pick 24. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A big swing on Keith Randolph Jr. at pick 128, well ahead of any board in the building. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Luke McCaffrey at the 135th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A slide stopped in slot 174, with Kitan Oladapo worth more than the price. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A straight-up fair deal on Isaiah Neyor at pick No. 203, value and slot in agreement. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Myles Jones slipping to the 212th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Zion Logue at the 217th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The roster fit checks out.
They took Donovan Jennings at par in pick 245, which is nothing to complain about. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
