This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Max Klare, the No. 76 name on the board, stolen at Round 4, Pick 11. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
The Smith reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
They left with linebacker solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
You do not let a linebacker like Anthony Hill Jr. reach the 62nd overall pick and blink. They did not. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They robbed the room for Max Klare here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Good price on Emmett Johnson in No. 115, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Travis Burke at slot 174 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
DJ Campbell at the 186th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Cameron Ball in pick No. 193 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
The board had TJ Hall higher than pick 246, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Value said wait; Isaac Smith in the Round 7 slot says they were not listening. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A big swing on Adam Randall at No. 257, well ahead of any board in the building. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
