Some picks age like wine; Tyreak Sapp at pick 133 will need to, sitting 132 spots clear of his grade. The bottom line is a respectable B.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Stutsman. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own.
They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 14 they get a run-stuffing presence up front. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Donovan Jackson. The roster fit checks out.
They reached a country mile for Luke Kandra at pick No. 82, and the board is aghast. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A clean, defensible pick in pick 100 with a little surplus value in Maxwell Hairston. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Howard Cross III in No. 114 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Jake Majors reach Round 4, Pick 14 and blink. They did not. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They reached into another round for Tyreak Sapp, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Lathan Ransom in No. 136 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Danny Stutsman in the Round 5 slot, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Cam Skattebo at the 156th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They barely believed it either: Sonny Styles still on the board at pick 188. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Logan Parr at slot 224 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
Jack Kiser in Round 7, Pick 15 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Jamon Dumas-Johnson at pick No. 234 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A big swing on Elijhah Badger at No. 235, well ahead of any board in the building. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Jalen Rivers at the 252nd overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
