The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Commanders spent their marquee pick on Bo Nix, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
Every board in the league had Rosengarten lower, and that gap is the story. They banked enough surplus on Verse to cover a lot of smaller sins. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 4 they get a true top target at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
In the 27th overall pick they get the face of the franchise. A real need, handled.
You do not let an edge rusher like Jared Verse reach the Round 2 slot and blink. They did not. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They paid sticker price for Kamari Lassiter in the 40th pick, and that is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Value said wait; Dominick Puni in Round 3, Pick 3 says they were not listening. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Christian Mahogany in pick 78, miles early. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They talked themselves into Roger Rosengarten at slot 100, and the board did not agree. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Christian Jones in No. 139. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Good price on Tommy Eichenberg in slot 152, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Jaylan Ford slipping to pick No. 222 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
