For all the boxes ticked, the Eagles skipped the loudest one: interior defensive lineman is exactly as bare as it was. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
However the rest shakes out, King at that price is a win they earned. Reaching for Randolph Jr. left real value on the table behind him.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 27 they get a ballhawk on the back end. A real need, handled.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at pick No. 50 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Kalen King in the 59th overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Nothing to complain about; Bucky Irving went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They jumped the gun on Keith Randolph Jr., taking him earlier than his grade liked. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They took LaDarius Henderson at par in the Round 5 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A need, and now a little less of one.
Javon Baker at slot 172 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Joe Milton III at pick 178 is the proof. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Xavier Thomas. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
