They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Emery Jones Jr., 94 picks early at pick 76.
Landing Skattebo that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The trade table is where this weekend went wrong.
So much rides on Shedeur Sanders that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 6 they get their guy under center for the next decade at fair value.
In Round 1, Pick 12 they get a press-man option on the boundary. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Tre Harris slid further than he should have, and slot 37 is lovely value for the wide receiver. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Nick Emmanwori in the 44th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Tyler Booker at the Round 2 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They reached into another round for Jack Nelson, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
No edge and no loss on Omarr Norman-Lott in No. 73; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Emery Jones Jr. this early at the 76th overall pick. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Tez Johnson at Round 4, Pick 8. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Steal is underselling it; TreVeyon Henderson at pick No. 112 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It fills a real need, too.
Nazir Stackhouse at pick 148 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The roster fit checks out.
They robbed the room for Danny Stutsman here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Somehow Kevin Winston Jr. was still sitting there in the 170th pick, and they pounced on premier safety value. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
A real head-scratcher, Theo Wease Jr. in the Round 5 slot is miles ahead of his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
The board fumbled Kobe King all the way to the 186th overall pick, and they scooped it up. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Cam Skattebo in slot 209 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They will replay Jack Kiser at pick No. 248 for years; that is how good the value is. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
