Some picks age like wine; Brandon Coleman at the Round 4 slot will need to, sitting 36 spots clear of his grade. Put together, it is a D-.
They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. It is not that Bishop is a bad player; it is that the Packers had louder needs to answer first.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, quarterback very much included.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 28 they get protection for the quarterback at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Good price on Kamren Kinchens in slot 41, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A reach on Cooper Beebe in the 63rd pick; the board had better options right there. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Johnny Wilson at the Round 2 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tyler Davis. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Kris Abrams-Draine at pick No. 94 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A want over a need in Round 3, Pick 32: Cole Bishop adds a safety while quarterback and tight end keeps waiting.
They went early on Marshawn Kneeland in pick No. 98, and the value did not follow. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They took Will Shipley at par in the 125th pick, which is nothing to complain about. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
