The Commanders went off the board in a big way for David Walker, 111 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another.
On value alone, Taylor makes the weekend a net positive. The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 29th pick they get a ballhawk on the outside at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They reached into another round for David Walker, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Demetrius Knight Jr. at No. 79 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Somehow Hollin Pierce was still sitting there in the Round 5 slot, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
The board fumbled Dont'e Thornton Jr. all the way to slot 207, and they scooped it up. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Steal is underselling it; Woody Marks at the 238th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A wide receiver of that caliber at the 250th pick is the definition of value, full stop. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
