They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Drake Maye is the Patriots' quarterback, full stop.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Harden. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it.
The Wiley reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get their guy under center for the next decade at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
They did well to land Brian Thomas Jr. in pick No. 34, just ahead of his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They paid sticker price for Kiran Amegadjie in Round 3, Pick 4, and that is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They let Caelen Carson come to them and pounced at No. 103. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Justin Eboigbe in the 137th pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
No drama and no debate, Tip Reiman went about where he belonged in slot 180. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A conviction pick on Jared Wiley at the 193rd overall pick that the board grades a round light. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Myles Harden at pick 231 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
