Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Luke McCaffrey got past him. The Dolphins do not have to explain a thing at the 184th overall pick. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 25 they get a plug-and-play piece up front at fair value.
A slide stopped in the Round 2 slot, with Javon Bullard worth more than the price. It adds depth where they could use a little.
By-the-book stuff, Christian Mahogany at No. 91 squarely in line with his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Maason Smith at pick No. 108 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A tidy little value on Tyrone Tracy Jr. in Round 5, Pick 22, a step better than break-even. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Javion Cohen at the 174th overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The roster fit checks out.
A wide receiver of that caliber at the 184th pick is the definition of value, full stop. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
