The Dolphins bet big and early on David Ugwoegbu, 88 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Getting Torrence where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 29 they get a cornerstone up front. A clean fit for the roster.
A straight-up fair deal on Kingsley Suamataia at Round 2, Pick 23, value and slot in agreement. It fills a real need, too.
Kamren Kinchens at the 61st pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They did well to land Tyrone Tracy Jr. in slot 158, just ahead of his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They paid sticker price for Javion Cohen in pick 164, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
No drama and no debate, Fabien Lovett went about where he belonged in No. 184. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Ro Torrence in pick 198 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
David Ugwoegbu at pick No. 241 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The roster logic is harder to follow.
