The Chiefs spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Tommy Eichenberg, the No. 109 name on the board, in slot 128. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. If Knox pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
A straight-up fair deal on Troy Fautanu at Round 1, Pick 28, value and slot in agreement. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jermaine Burton. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Roman Wilson in the 91st pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A linebacker of that caliber at pick No. 128 is the definition of value, full stop. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
You do not let a cornerback like Jaylin Simpson reach the Round 5 slot and blink. They did not. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
By-the-book stuff, Justin Eboigbe at the 171st overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A reach for Trey Knox in pick 175; a little patience would have been rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Miyan Williams in slot 206 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The roster fit checks out.
