They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Jayden Daniels is the Commanders' quarterback, full stop.
The Johnson reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. The Ford pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get the face of the franchise. A real need, handled.
They paid a round early for Chris Braswell in pick 36, more than the board wanted. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Jordan Morgan in No. 40 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Mike Sainristil in the 67th overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Theo Johnson at Round 3, Pick 14 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Javon Foster this early at the 100th pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jarrian Jones in slot 139. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They reached into another round for Cornelius Johnson, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jaylan Ford at pick 222 is the proof. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
