The Chargers clearly saw something nobody else did in Cody Schrader, taking him 34 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 16 they get a disruptor off the edge. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Johnny Wilson slipping to Round 2, Pick 6 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Cooper Beebe at the 60th overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Jackson Powers-Johnson at slot 70 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
No drama and no debate, TreVeyon Henderson went about where he belonged in pick No. 80. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Braelon Allen. It fills a real need, too.
They paid a round early for Max Melton in pick No. 106, more than the board wanted. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
