This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Myles Harden, the No. 209 name on the board, stolen at Round 7, Pick 35. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
Bortolini has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.
The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 28 they get a sticky cover corner. The biggest hole, addressed.
Kris Jenkins at the Round 2 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They took Kingsley Suamataia at par in slot 58, which is nothing to complain about. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A clean, defensible pick in the 88th pick with a little surplus value in Jaden Hicks. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Nothing to complain about; Cedric Gray went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A straight-up fair deal on Ben Sinnott at the 126th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. The roster fit checks out.
They did well to land Roger Rosengarten in No. 140, just ahead of his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
Marist Liufau at Round 5, Pick 10 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
They reached a country mile for Tanor Bortolini at slot 163, and the board is aghast. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A reach on Khristian Boyd in the 169th pick; the board had better options right there. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A tidy little value on Daijun Edwards in pick No. 192, a step better than break-even. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A market-rate quarterback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Joe Milton III. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Dominique Hampton at Round 6, Pick 44 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Trevin Wallace in pick 227 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
A slide stopped in the Round 7 slot, with Jordan Magee worth more than the price. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Jalen Sundell at No. 245 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Myles Harden at pick No. 255 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
