Every other box got a look, but edge rusher did not. The Chargers will head to camp with the same hole they walked in with.
Hart at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The cost of the Sweat reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 5 they get a security blanket over the middle. A real need, handled.
Value said wait; T'Vondre Sweat in No. 37 says they were not listening. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They went early on Blake Corum in the 69th pick, and the value did not follow. It fills a real need, too.
They took Donovan Edwards at par in the Round 4 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They let Cam Hart come to them and pounced at the 142nd overall pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
No drama and no debate, Christian Jones went about where he belonged in slot 183. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
