The Chargers put a flag in the ground for Cody Schrader, 55 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
Brock Bowers in Round 1, Pick 6 is fair value, right on his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Chop Robinson. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Blake Corum in pick No. 47 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They reached into another round for Roman Wilson, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They took Donovan Edwards at par in the Round 4 slot, which is nothing to complain about. The roster fit checks out.
Ben Sinnott in slot 142 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A big swing on Cody Schrader at slot 183, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They talked themselves into Cody Simon at pick 226, and the board did not agree. A minor itch, scratched.
