You build a draft on nights like this. MarShawn Lloyd had no business being available in No. 172, and the Eagles did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. The cost of the Stogner reach is exactly the players who went right after him. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
The Puka Nacua deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
Bottom line, with Quinyon Mitchell leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick-by-Pick
Taking Quinyon Mitchell in the 50th pick is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Taliese Fuaga at the Round 2 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Edgerrin Cooper in slot 85 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A wide receiver of that caliber at the 97th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They robbed the room for Beau Brade here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It fills a real need, too.
Somehow Will Shipley was still sitting there in pick 163, and they pounced on premier running back value. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They will replay MarShawn Lloyd at Round 5, Pick 36 for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
