They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Drake Maye is the Commanders' quarterback, full stop. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. Rosengarten has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up. Landing Burton that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get the face of the franchise at fair value.
Jordan Morgan at Round 2, Pick 4 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They paid sticker price for Darius Robinson in No. 38, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Tyler Nubin in the 40th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A minor itch, scratched.
A tidy bit of business in pick 67, where Jermaine Burton graded well above the range. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They paid a round early for Khyree Jackson in pick No. 78, more than the board wanted. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Roger Rosengarten at the 100th pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Fair-plus on Mohamed Kamara, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The roster fit checks out.
A reach on Dwight McGlothern in pick 152; the board had better options right there. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Garret Greenfield at the 222nd overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
